Clickster is the essential application for every lover of music. Clickster enables you to easily search for and download mp3 files from the Internet in a totally legal and safe environment. Because Clickster sources mp3's which are hosted on web servers, you can expect download speeds which put P2P networks to shame. With currently over 30 million tracks available to download (and growing), we're certain Clickster will be able to locate the music you really want to listen to and there are no dead/broken links.

With
over 30 million mp3 tracks (and growing) already sourced and available
for download, we're confident that you will find the music you really
want to listen to. With Clickster there are no dead/ broken links
and it confidently out-performs all other online services or software
of a similar nature.
With
ISP's and networks now being actively 'encouraged' by many western governments and the Recording
Industry to shutdown P2P and Bit Torrent traffic, or at least exercise
ever increasing control, Clickster provides users with a safe, comprehensive
alternative. Safe because, Clickster only ever downloads audio mp3
files and so, there is no chance of accidentally downloading an infected
exe, wma file or unacceptable images. Safe too because, with Clickster
you DO NOT SHARE FILES with other users. It is this act, of sharing
files with other users, which has prompted many high-profile legal
claims against users of P2P networks.
Clickster
effortlessly displays the full url of each track. This information
could be useful to users looking to add the track to a playlist
for embedding into a MySpace or other webpage.
Downloading
an MP3 with Clickster is a real breeze and because mp3's are downloaded
from the Internet and not from some dude, on the other side of the
world, using a dial-up connection, Clickster users enjoy download
speeds which are considerably faster than P2P networks (even when
downloading from multiple sources).
The
integral MP3 Player within Clickster allows the user to easily play/stream
an mp3 file without having to download the file first.

Of course, the good news about Clickster doesn't stop there. Users can easily compile Playlists of mp3's which they have found online, configure their own media player and in two clicks of the mouse, Clickster will deliver the code for you to Embed your Playlist and Media Player into any webpage, blog or MySpace area. That's right! No hosting and no downloading! (see below)
You want more? Okay, so how about this....

Lovers of Internet Radio from ShoutCast (www.shoutcast.com) will already be familiar with the excellent CD quality music which can be accessed from any of the thousands of broadcasters available. Clickster not only allows you tune into any of these radio stations, but offers a full Stream Ripping feature. Just click on the Record Stream button and Clickster will rip every track broadcast and save it as a separate mp3 file directly to your PC; complete with Artist and Track name. Clickster will even save these ripped tracks directly to your iPod or mp3 player and because Clickster records these tracks directly from the stream and not your sound card, the excellent sound quality is preserved and there is no corruption from any other sounds your PC may make while recording.

And Finally....
With over 110 million MP3 tracks, from over six million artists and bands, we recognise the importance of MySpace* in the development and promotion of new artists as well as the more established performers. At Clickster we understand that, very often, listening to new bands and music is not that easy while you are browsing MySpace. So for this reason, we have included a full MySpace Music Ripper on the Clickster-Pro interface.
Using Clickster's own integral MySpace Browser, MP3's can be ripped from any MySpace page and downloaded to either your PC or directly to your iPod or other MP3 player.
You don't need a membership to MySpace to use this service.

While
it appears to be common practice for P2P and Torrent clients to
come bundled with varying amounts of adware/spware, Clickster again
bucks the trend. Clickster wasn't created by some venture capital
backed company, looking to make high returns, it was written by
an ordinary dude who likes to discover new music and who enjoys
writing software. So, perhaps exclusively within the world of MP3
Downloaders, Clickster contains No Spyware, Adware or Malware and
is made available as Freeware.
What's wrong with Peer-to-Peer networks?
- Peer-to-Peer (p2p) or File-Sharing networks are home to a number of exclusive virus and trojan worms which infect thousands of computers everyday. Clickster is 100% safe.
- 'Sharing' your music on these networks would probably violate copyright, leaving you vulnerable to legal action by the Recording Industry. Clickster is 100% legal.
- Windows Media files (wma) can host both viruses and trojans. For this reason, Clickster does not download wma files.
- It is very easy on P2P networks to access and download hard-core pornography. While some people may find this to be a positive, consider this. P2P networks are awash with horrific child pornography and grossly violent material (eg. Iraqi beheading videos), some of which, are mislabeled to disguise their true subject matter. Because Clickster is restricted to mp3 files only, there is no chance of accessing or downloading this type of material, either accidentally or intentionally.
- Children should not, under any circumstances, be permitted to access P2P networks. In addition to the ease at which pornography can be accessed, many P2P clients such as Limewire, have user-to-user chat services. While Clickster offers a considerably safer environment, we do advise parents to exercise caution and responsibility as, there is currently no control over song content/lyrics.

What's New in Version 1.60:
- MySpace Music Ripper & Downloader
with Clickster you can Rip and Download any of the 110 million MP3's hosted there by over six-million bands.
- Security Fixes
Some customers have reported in earlier versions that, ocassionally advertising popups appeared during the MP3 validation process, served by the MP3 hosting site. This flaw in Clickster has now been fixed.
- Improved Interface
The display of Search Results has been totally re-written. When the Search Process is in operation the 'Jolly Roger' icon is animated.
- Improved Search Process
Large parts of the search process and results reporting have been re-written, providing even more quality results.
- New File Download Feature
The file download feature has been totally re-written. It is now possible to download multiple mp3's at the same time (currently up to three) and where a file is found to reside on more than one server, the download is called from multiple locations, making for much faster download speeds. Finally, customers can now download mp3's even while the search process is running.
- Explore Server (Pro Feature Only)
This new feature allows customers to explore the online server of any mp3 file. With safety in mind, Clickster provides an integral Safe Web Browser, which automatically disables all scripting, Fash, JavaScript and ActiveX to ensure you don't inadvertantly receive any spyware or adware while engaged in this activity. This feature is a great way to discover all manner of digital bounty, which can be downloaded. MP3 files which reside on webservers are not usually alone, they have company and very often lots of them. Whole albums, whole mp3 collections, cd artwork, movies and even software can all be located and downloaded using this feature. It's great fun and with the Clickster Safe Browser, you can look around in 100% safety.

Please
have a read of the documentation before downloading.

Legal Position
According to my expensive lawyers... "It is not possible, in either the US or EU, to be pursued under law, criminal or otherwise, for watching, listening to, reading or even being in possession of, material which was distributed, broadcast or otherwise published, in violation of copyright. The legal responsibility, in all cases, lies with the publisher, distributor or broadcaster of the material."
All the mp3 files located by Clickster are hosted on openly accessible web servers and so therefore, the presumption must be that, the webmasters/companies concerned have the necessary permissions etc. to distribute this material.
The legal cases brought by the recording industry against P2P users, in both the States and Europe, were successful because of the 'File Sharing' element of these networks. The individuals sued were all guilty of 'sharing' and therefore 'distributing' material in violation of copyright. Not one has been pursued for 'downloading'.
Of course with Clickster, there is no file-sharing. So yes, there are possible legal implications for the webmasters who are making these mp3 s available to anyone and everyone on the Internet, but not the end user.
Another consideration is that, because mp3's virtually stream from a web-server, (you can listen to it as it downloads) and web servers are considered, in law, as a 'broadcast' media, existing legislation which allows you to record broadcasts on on a VCR or Tivo, also applies to streaming media from a webserver. The same is true of the Radio Ripper within Clickster.
So don t believe the hype! Employing some of the best PR talent in the world, the Record Industry is very good at talking about "illegal downloads", but in reality, there is no such thing.
In conclusion, there is nothing illegal about or in Clickster and it s certainly not illegal to download any files it turns up as being freely available on the Internet. The legal responsibility always lies with the publisher/distributor etc.
I admit, Clickster as a legal music downloader, is something of a problem to the Record Industry. After all, there are certainly many times more mp3 files available on web-servers than all the P2P networks put together. But that is for them to resolve, not me and certainly not Clickster's customer base. I, Clickster and its many thousands of users are working within the provisions of National and International Law.
So while Remlap Software does not condone or encourage the distribution of material in violation of Copyright, the position is clear. The legal responsibility to ensure permissions etc. lies with the publisher/distributor of the material, not us.
BE RESPONSIBLE: While we are pleased to offer a legal music downloader, we do ask that you act responsibly and if you download an artist or band you enjoy, please buy the album or better still, go and see them live. Under no circumstances should you redistribute the music you download; you could be violating copyright.
Downloading music for free does not and will not kill the music industry. Acting irresponsibly might. So look upon Clickster as providing music on a 'try before you buy' basis. That way, everyone wins.
