Introduction:
Clickster is the essential application for every lover of music. Clickster enables you to easily search for and download mp3 files from the Internet. Because Clickster sources mp3's which are hosted on web servers, you can expect download speeds which put P2P networks to shame. With currently over 30 million tracks available to download (and growing), we're certain Clickster will be able to locate the music you really want to listen to and there are no dead/broken links.

Of course, the good news about Clickster doesn't stop there. Users can easily compile Playlists of mp3's which they have found online, configure their own media player and in two clicks of the mouse, Clickster will deliver the code for you to Embed your Playlist and Media Player into any webpage, blog or MySpace area. That's right! No hosting and no downloading! (see below)

You want more? Okay, so how about this...

Lovers of Internet Radio from ShoutCast (www.shoutcast.com) will already be familiar with the excellent CD quality music which can be accessed from any of the thousands of broadcasters available. Clickster not only allows you tune into any of these radio stations, but offers a full Stream Ripping feature. With Clickster-Pro you can rip and record up to three radio stations at the same time!

Just click on the Record Stream button and Clickster will rip every track broadcast and save it as a separate mp3 file directly to your PC; complete with Artist and Track name. Clickster will even save these ripped tracks straight onto your iPod or mp3 player and because Clickster records these tracks directly from the stream and not your sound card, the excellent sound quality is preserved and there is no corruption from any other sounds your PC may make while recording.

More Comprehensive Search Results

With Clickster-Pro users can enjoy all the features of the standard Freeware version, but with faster, more efficient search patterns, providing even more results. The advanced search service of Clickster-Pro is further enhanced by employing Extended Search, which returns a torrent of results for you to listen to and download.

Clickster is exceptionally easy to use, but should you run into problems, support is available by email.

Getting Started:

To start using Clickster, simply enter your search criteria (Artist, Track Name or Both) into the Artist and Track search boxes and click FIND (Enter).

You will obtain better search results if you omit "The" from the front of a bands name. eg. When searching for "The Superkings", just enter "Superkings" into the Artist Search Box.

TIP!
Clickster will also search for podcasts on any particular subject or musical genre. To access this rich resource just enter the following into Clickster Search ...

Podcast <Your Genre Here>

Podcast Ambient

While Searching, Clickster displays a STOP SEARCH button (red). This can be found to the right of the Search Input Boxes.

The STOP SEARCH button is only ever visible while the search process is in operation. While searching it is not possible to Download a track, so if the track you want pops up, you can terminate the search process in order to Download the track you want.

Playing a Track:
Unlike P2P networks, with Clickster you can play/stream any track without having to first download it. You can even play a track while the search process is in operation

To Play a particular track either...

  • DOUBLE-CLICK the track in question
  • Click the track and then click the PLAY BUTTON

Download a Track:
As previously mentioned, it is not possible to download a track while the search process is operational. So you will either need to wait for Search to terminate or click on the Stop Each button (see below)

To Download a track, click on the Track Name and then Click on the Download button.

On the first download of a session, you will be requested to select a directory where the downloaded files from this session will be stored. Subsequent downloads will automatically be saved to this directory. If you do wish to change the downloads directory during a session, RIGHT-click the download button and you will be able to select a new directory.

Track Location:
Clicking on the Track Location button will display the URL of the mp3 file currently selected track.

Playlists:
Clickster Playlists are a way of bringing the music you find online to your own webpages, blogs or MySpace area. You don't need to download any mp3's, the Clickster Media Player will stream them from their original location. Playlists can contain up to 100 individual tracks.

Add Track to Playlist:
To ADD a track to a playlist, simply click on the Track you wish to Add and then click the Add to Playlist button. After selecting the Playlist you want to use, or creating a new Playlist, you will be asked to configure the entry. (see below)

NB: Images are displayed as a thumbnail. A good source for images is Google Images.

Configure Media Player for Playlist:
Here you can configure your Media Player and attach a Playlist to it. (see below)

Once you are happy with your settings and have selected the Playlist you want to attach to the Media Player, click on the 'Generate Code' button. At this point, Clickster will validate your Playlist and move it from your computer onto the Clickster-Online server. Clickster will then generate the HTML code (see below) necessary for you to embed the media player and playlist into any webpage or MySpace area.

Clickster Radio Ripper:
This is a really cool feature and one which can quickly provide you with more mp3's than it is possible to listen to in one lifetime. ShoutCast is home to thousands of Internet Radio stations and covers every possible musical genre.

With Clickster it is not only possible to listen to these radio stations, but actually rip the stream; whereby each track broadcast is saved as a separate mp3 file with the artist and song title saved as the mp3 filename. And you can Rip and Record upto three radio stations at the same time.

100% Legal!
Yes, the Clickster Radio Ripper is a totally legal way to obtain mp3's for free. As long as they are for your personal use, recording MP3's from the Clickster Radio Ripper is covered by the same legislation which permits recording tv programmes etc. to a VCR or digital video recorder.

The Clickster Radio Ripper controls can be found to the right of the Media Player (see below)

Browse the SHOUTcast website and move upto three stations into your SHOUTcast Control Panel.

Manage your Favorite Radio Stations / Move stations into the SHOUTcast Control Panel.

Open the SHOUTcast Control Panel.

SHOUTcast Control Panel:
From here you can play and/or record any of the radio stations currently in your Control Panel. The Play and Record features for each station operate independently. This way you can Play any station, regardless of whether it is Recording or not. Equally you can Record a stream without having to Play it.

In the above screenshot of the Control Panel, you will notice that, those stations which are currently set to Rip and Record have a Red Indicator to the left of the station title. While any station currently set to Play has a Green Indicator.

Play selected radio station.

Stop Playing the selected radio station (note - the Stop Play Button will not stop the recording process, this is undertaken with the Stop Recording Button [see below])

Add selected radio station to your Favourites.

Remove selected station from Control Panel

Record selected radio station.
Click this button and you will be asked to select a directory into which the ripped tracks will be saved.

Stop Recording selected radio station

Set Recording Time Offset for selected station - this should be used when the current track bleeds into the start of the next [see below]

Tidying-Up Your Ripped Recordings:
There maybe times when you will want to tidy-up the start and end of your ripped radio recordings. This can easily be done using a brilliant Freeware audio editing application called Audacity.

Uninstalling Clickster:
While Clickster is supplied with a professional uninstall engine which will totally remove the application from your system, you can simply just delete it as an alternative.

Running Clickster from Flash Drives:
Clickster can be installed or copied onto a Flash Drive and run from there. Useful perhaps if you want to use Clickster at work where installing software is not permitted.
